![]() ![]() It was a joy to hear from audiences that were encountering stories that entertained, moved and challenged them.”Īnd now, the moment all of them were waiting for, Sundance has announced which movies won awards. We celebrated that rich legacy while enjoying eleven days of meeting the visionaries of tomorrow. Something we were pleasantly surprised by was how much room there was to look ahead during a time of reflection on our rich history as a launchpad for countless stories and artists that have shaped the culture over four decades. “We congratulate all of our artists in the program this year for their contributions to an incredible slate and Festival experience. “This year was especially meaningful to all of us for being the 40th edition of the Sundance Film Festival,” said Joana Vicente, Sundance Institute CEO. We saw some big sales, learned a lot about the cameras used to make the movies, and heard from some of the directors themselves. This year's Sundance Film Festival feels like it was a blur. killing machine in last year's Child's Play. We've seen some of our favorite films, like Psycho, Total Recall, and Oldboy, go through the strange process of getting made over for modern audiences, complete with modernized references, new paint, and updated technology-like Chucky going from a classic murderous pull-string doll to a high-tech A.I. It took them eight years to make, but finally, Toy Story 3 IRL is here and it is glorious. Well, two brothers, Morgan and Mason McGrew, set out to recreate it, and we're talking a shot-for-shot remake here, people-a full-length feature film that employs stop-motion animation and the film's original audio to bring actual Toy Story toys to life. You know the third iteration of Pixar's Toy Story franchise-the one where Woody and the gang are taken to a daycare facility where Buzz speaks Spanish, Lotso turns out to be a psycho, and all of Andy's toys accept death as they descend into an incinerator? (Which always makes me cry like a baby.) Even if you're not a huge fan of film remakes, something tells me you're going to dig this. ![]()
